Picture the Past Genealogy

Names + Faces

A genealogy photography service doesn’t always come to mind but plays an important part of your ancestry. I started in photography as a little girl. You can actually read more about that on my photography site at Who is Misti? Let’s just say I have been doing this for a while. Photography is incredibly important to genealogy. Personally, I get REALLY excited when I get my hands on a photograph and learn a new face of my ancestor. I love the tangible and always have but digital back ups for many reasons allows for wider usage than those photo albums sitting on the shelf. It is also a lot of work.

I provide a variety of different genealogy photography services and you can find them in the options HERE. From the daunting task of organizing and scanning to the far more fun for you AND me are generational portraits of you and your family. I have years of photography experience under my belt and can help with solutions to those projects that may feel overwhelming like looking at boxes and boxes of photographs and memorabilia and ephemera that we all so, so love looking at but not really dealing with it.

The best surprise ever…

This is one of my most favorite photographs that I happened upon in researching my ancestry. I had not a single clue these people even existed let alone their faces. Then one day after I placed their names in my tree and a little digging, I found this. The person who uploaded the image had even included the names to the faces. I was on a high for days over this image. I kept them all in mind when I traced their stories, found their records and learned a little about their lives. Imagine it being your ancestors one day who find an image and have that experience!
